Go Exotic With Your Bedroom Makeover

From time to time even the most glamorously designed bedrooms can do with a bit of freshening up. Rather than go to the expense of completely redecorating, why not give your bedroom any exotic makeover? Not only is it far cheaper than completely redecorating, it is also a lot quicker and providing you have the right materials available can be done in a couple of hours.

So what is an exotic design? I’m sure you’ve seen them in films or TV programs, exotic bedrooms tend to have crisp white sheets on a four poster bed with more white linen draped all over it. A lot of people find this style comical and think its way too over the top, but why shouldn’t a bedroom be like this? There’s not a rule book you have to follow so go with it!

Something that can immediately change the tone of a room and make it look far more exotic is animal print. Always in fashion and also quite cheap, animal print has been a favourite for years and is a great way of making old cushions and pictures look like new items and will really add to the exotic feel of a room. Light is also a big factor in how exotic a room feels. Where possible ensure lights point towards the ceiling as this creates a feeling of being abroad and in a far away country.

If you have got extra time and money on your hands then repainting the walls is an option. Light colours such as light brown tend to work best. If the room darkish then use drapes to brighten it up.

Plants are also a great way to recreate the classic exotic look but it’s important not to go overboard. Too many plants can look tacky so choose carefully – you don’t want your bedroom to look like a jungle!

Making over a bedroom in an exotic style is not easy but if you follow the steps above you will be well on your way to an exotic paradise.
