Hedge Trimmers-Tools That Do Up Hedges

Properly landscaped homes do not only add beauty to the surroundings, they also provide relaxation. Moreover, as professional landscape architects would agree, a well designed property also increases the value of the land. However, maintenance designed lands can be tedious. As such, many landscape architects employ a number of tools to aid them in preserving these landscaped areas. Among these tools is the hedge trimmer.

Closely planted shrubs in the garden are what we refer to as hedges or hedgerows. They are originally planted as boundary of an area or as a form of barrier. They serve as markers of borders of property for farmers. Nowadays though, theses hedges are considered as part of landscaping. Maintaining hedges require the use of specialize tools such as the hedge trimmer. The hedge trimmer can be used to trim edges based on our desired lengths, sizes and shapes imaginable. Different design of hedges can be seen in different establishments and famous landmarks in the country. There are hedges in the shape of Mickey Mouse and Donald Duck found in Disneyland. There are also theses animal shaped hedges found in zoos and parks. All these carefully and beautifully designed hedges are what people refer to as topiaries.

Grooming and maintaining hedges can be learned through practice and observation. This can help one build lovely trimmed hedges. Thus, when one is good with trimming hedges, he should also know how to choose the best trimmer for the job.

Three types of hedge trimmers are available for one to choose from. The corded trimmer, gas powered and the battery operated trimmers. The least expensive among the three types is the corded hedge trimmer. It is quite difficult to use though especially if the hedge works are far form the main socket. This is because the corded trimmers requires a plus which has a short length and thus limits the distance one can work from. On the other hand, there are also the gas powered trimmers which are heavier than the corded types. They are more advisable for long distanced hedge trimmings but can be very difficult to use especially if the work requires a number of hedges to be trimmed. Finally, there are also the battery operated trimmers which are the most convenient to use. They weigh lesser than the gas powered trimmers and can also be used for long distanced work. However, just like the first two types, this also has a down side. Battery operated trimmers can only be used for a limited time, mostly up to three hours of continuous use.

Other than selecting the type of trimmer, the kind of blade used in the trimmer must also be considered. Make sure the blade is suitable to the type of trimming you will be doing. The heavier the trimmings necessary, the larger the blade that is needed to be used in landscaping. Also, you can also choose between a reciprocating and non-reciprocating blade. Reciprocating blades have two blades that work in different directions and allow the hedges to be left with a nice clean cut.

Choosing hedge trimmers or Heckenschere as Germans say, still depends on the user. One should choose a model that provides the most convenience to the user. Moreover, one should also take into consideration the manufacturer of the product like Bosch Heckenschere which is one of the leading manufactures of hedge trimmers. Now that we have an idea on the important point needed in choosing the best hedge trimmer, we can start grooming our gardens.
