So, is it time to build your own shed? Well I can speak from experience when I say yes – the issue was that I didn\’t have a clue where to begin, so I flew by the seat of my pants and it ended up costing me big time. I was spending money hand over fist and making far too many journeys to the supply store because my plans would change so often.
I was wasting materials and in a few cases I had the wrong materials to start with because I did not have a clear idea what the final project would even look like. I never did finish the first project and listen to me when I tell you that I was well out of code and way in the red from where I started. I finally tore it down! But then I learned something that really made a difference! Let me share with you something that I did not even know existed…complete plans that you can purchase online that will permit you to build your own shed like a pro!
A \”Do It Yourself\” fantasy
1 – A total set of blueprints and an image of the finished shed. I\’d like that the best!
2 – A total materials list so you only buy what you need significantly reducing the number of visits to the lumber store.
3 – A cut list giving you all of the proper lumber cuts which may significantly reduce waste.
4 – Step-by-step plans so each component is built precisely at the right time so your project runs smoothly.
5 – Straightforward to appreciate legends explaining even some of the tougher ideas like electric schematics which were extraordinarily cool I assumed.
Caution: I found that not all plans offered on the web came with all these features. The free plans were enticing but I discovered that they were only simple drawings without schematics or material lists.
